REVEALED: Ted Cruz invited his Princeton roommate to join him on Cancun family vacation 'that his daughters asked for' - as he serves barbecue to first responders back in Texas after returning in disgrace

Ted Cruz invited his college roommate from Princeton and Harvard Law to join him and his family on their Cancun vacation, it has been revealed.

The Texas Senator flew to Mexico last Wednesday afternoon with his wife Heidi and their two daughters, aged 10 and 12, while millions in their home state struggled without power, heat and water.

He flew back the next day amid outcry over the trip, and defended it by saying he was just being a 'good dad' and appeasing his 'girls', who'd asked if they could jet somewhere warm while Texas froze.

After planning the trip apparently at the last minute, Cruz also invited his David Panton, his roommate from Princeton and Harvard Law, who lives in Atlanta and works in private equity.

Panton accepted and flew to Cancun, where he also got a room at The Ritz-Carlton, Axios has revealed.

It's unclear when he flew back. Panton grew up in Jamaica before attending college in the US.

He and Cruz graduated from Princeton in 1992 and from Harvard Law in 1995.

It comes after text messages show how Heidi Cruz told neighbors and friends that they were 'escaping' the 'freezing' temperatures.

She asked the others in a group text for women who live on their Houston street if they too could get away.

The family also left behind their poodle, Snowflake.

The trip and his attempts to defend it have been a PR disaster for the Senator.

Since returning last Thursday, Cruz has been working overtime to mend his image and tackle the ongoing crisis in Texas.

Over the weekend, he served barbecue to first responders in Houston to 'thank them' for their work.

It drives me crazy when people here say “The mainstream media is refusing to cover this story” and then when you link to an article showing that they are covering it, they say “Well, I don’t read the mainstream media.”

The DM needs to worry about thier own sh*tty country swirling down the toilet. This obsession with Texas is so pathetically transparent. As someone previously mentioned, the disgrace is the mass murder of the elderly by the demonic dem governors especially Cuomo.

This is such a non-story, probably to take the spotlight off Cuomo. There is nothing Cruz could have done to help the situation in Texas had he stayed. More people should have left the state for a while if they could. It would have eased the demand somewhat for electricity and bottled water.

The reason this keeps going is because he originally said it was just an overnight trip to drop off the kids.

I agree. If he hadn't lied, and lied, and lied again, everyone would have forgotten about it by now.

Thank you. I’ve decided that we all need to be more aggressive against the PRESS as they are truly the ENEMY of the people in America. We need to pour it on at every opportunity.

In the aftermath of the refusal of Ted Cruz to endorse Trump at the 2016 Convention, FR commenced being very anti-Ted Cruz, with some dissent on that point. That certainly is my recollection. There was no end to it.

I am impressed with your capability to discuss based on the merits of a discussion or debate, and avoid personals. That shows strength. Pretty good so far. Blessings,

A read an article, earlier today, that said the damage claims for this Texas storm will be record setting.

Bigger than any hurricane...because this was STATEWIDE.

Massive, extensive damage, county by county.

Not good timing to skip town.

Leaving Snowflake (the poodle) at home with NO power, in care of the security guard, wasn’t a great idea, either.

You question the FR Purity Board, prepare to be attacked & called a poser.
Those enlightened members of the Purity Board have very thin skin.

Except Ted Cruz turned round and not only endorsed President Trump, he campaigned with him and for him too, and all that before the elections.
Naturally, you also fail to mention that not so little brouhaha between President Trump and Ted Cruz’s wife.
Would you campaign for a guy that trashed your wife for no good reason?

That's true. He has committed no crime. I voted for him twice and would vote for him again.

Excellent!

This is the guy that has voted several times against disaster aid to blue states.

After his comments about California rolling blackouts, I am enjoying watching this sanctimonious hypocrite taking his lumps.

“in August 2020, California was being asked to conserve energy during an extreme heatwave in the state. Cruz tweeted that the state was “unable to perform even basic functions of civilization, like having reliable electricity.”

FU Ted Cruz

probably to take the spotlight off Cuomo >>

I think you are right; however, it was still a dumb thing to do, and now we find out he lied again as it wasn’t just about his daughters, he actually invited his college roommate, this was more planned than he admitted and not just to help his kids.

Hell no I wouldn’t. He’d step all over his two little girls (which he did blame them for it), and then step on the wife, all in an effort to have power, or otherwise curry the favor of Donald Trump. He is really low class or has become so in my book. Used to like his schtick and where he was coming from (or where I thought he was). Just another phony and you can see plain through it. He failed a big moral test. I would likewise flunk any lib Dem senator doing the same thing.

I get it, he’s trying to walk the line. I don’t agree with him one bit on this. He’s been solid on a majority of maga. Who is going to replace him if we throw him under the bus? I don’t know Texas politics that much, so I can’t answer that question. If turning on Ted brings us Beto, then I’m out.
