The United States stood Sunday at the brink of 500,000 COVID-19 deaths as Dr Anthony Fauci warned that Americans could be wearing masks into 2022 despite infections falling 77 per cent over the last six weeks.
A year into the pandemic, the running total of lives lost was about 498,000 โ roughly the population of Kansas City, Missouri, and just shy of the size of Atlanta.
The figure compiled by Johns Hopkins University surpasses the number of people who died in 2019 of chronic lower respiratory diseases, stroke, Alzheimer's, flu and pneumonia combined.

Vaccine complacency? I’m there already.
I would have been okay allowing everything to remain open at reduced capacity...social sustaining.
Only wearing a mask if you are in close proximity.
Otherwise..suggested precautions..and a warning would have been fine with me.
This CDC chart says deaths from all causes have remained almost the same.

Yes, what the authorities are hating more than anything is to see the virus massively shrinking in actual real-time significance - cases, hospitalizations, deaths - with most people not having taken the vaccine.
The actual number is less than half that. I wonder when it will be considered “safe” to reveal that.
i answered all your questions. you apparently canโt read. have a nice day
Good answer, thanks for hanging in there for the medical staff. We lost a good friend, his widow is still struggling with the symptoms at home. Another friend’s son had it terribly and described in detail on Facebook what he as going through with the exhaustion, plummeting O2 sats, tachycardia, dyspnea when he tried doing simple things like talking 10 feet to toast a bagel.
EE, you might want to take some things seriously. And no, I don’t think the lockdowns are or were necessary, doing way more harm than good, and I highly question the masks.
The long term effects of the lockdowns, and governmental power grabs, will be far more deleterious to life and our society than covid.
They really expect us to believe these ridiculous numbers.oh wait most of the sheeple probably do. ๐

Yep.
Ivermectin (mainly) and HCQ, both using zinc and antibiotics.
Ivermectin regimen is what we should be using here.
The actual numbers are probably a third of that or less. Tell a big enough lie often enough and it will be believed.
I don’t necessarily disagree and we likely won’t ever know the full extent of the bad effects of lockdown.
Yes, some do. But two thirds or more are being falsely recorded as COVID deaths, people dying WITH it (not OF it), of illnesses that would have killed them anyway.
Any are too many, but this crisis is not going to go to waste! Thanks, Communist China and Democrat party USA.
the number of people that die with not of covid is not 2/3. If you have diabetes or hypertension and died of covid you died of the covid and with diabetes or hypertension, not the other way around
Do you think the stats are exaggerated at all? Honest question and I’m not looking for a fight.
My 75 year old uncle had terminal liver cancer. He had stopped all treatment and was in hospice. He caught Covid (presumably from his wife who’s a nurse back in the early days of the pandemic). The counted his cause of death as Covid.
My great uncle, 94, was in a nursing home. He was in renal failure and refusing dialysis. He also caught Covid and died with many other from the same facility. They called his cause of death Covid too.
Both very sad events. My father, who loved both men very much, talks about them dying of Covid all the time. I will remind him sometimes that they were both terminal already, that Covid was just the final straw. Yup it sucks.
I just wonder how many of the 500,000 deaths so far are like this. 10%? 20%?
What’s your opinion? And thank you very much for your medical service. We have many nurses in the family and they are getting slammed, especially my pals in the ICUs.
certainly there are some that were dying anyway for whom covid happened to be the terminal event. This seems to be a relatively small number but no way to absolutely know how many. The other problem is where to draw the line? a life expectancy if 2 weeks or less? a month or less? it becomes very difficult to sort out. I will say the vast majority of patients I have cared for do not fall into this category. I am sorry for your losses made more difficult i am sure by the isolation and distancing rules.
Thank you. Yes the last day when we were all having to talk to my uncle with the nurses holding the phone on speaker was tough. We had to wait months for the funerals. Many people going through the same thing.
