Only one of four nuclear reactors went off line, leaving 75%. 50% of one plant went off line, and the second reactor stepped up a bit more than normal. That one reactor provides 1,280 megawatts, which the other three effectively match, each, from what I’ve gathered.

I saw that story. Wow, even the nuclear plant was vulnerable because the feedwater pump crapped out due to the cold. When you’re snakebit, you’re snakebit.

Thanks for that article. So, nuclear fared much better than other sources. Hmmmm.

There was this from the article

Many of the state’s gas plants were knocked out from icy conditions, and some plants shut down from being unable to access the fuel they need because producing wells froze.

I know companies operating gas and oil wells in Alberta Canada, where winter temps are regularly -40 Deg. F. I am curious what technical adjustments/investments were missing for Texas wells and pipelines to operate at low temperatures.
