It has been a while, but I recall he was badly wounded and lay on the battlefield for a long time in that state before they found him, and it took a long time to get him to an aid station, and even longer to get him to a real hospital.
The guy has guts. I am glad for him he will have the time to be with his family and loved ones, and everyone will get to say their goodbyes. Not everyone gets that chance.
