I disagree with the author’s contention that a narrative is a set of assumptions. These days “narrative” is a synonym for “lie.” And usually an elaborate one.
Our government is so corrupted. It’s all about greed and power. We have witnessed two of the greatest transfers of wealth in world history.
First, to Middle East oil producing countries. Hundreds of billions of American dollars flowing to filthy rich Arabic nations instead of American oil companies for decades...until President Trump.
Secondly, the destruction of the American middle class by allowing the off shoring of good paying American jobs to a communist country technically our enemy...Communist China.
Americans fed in to the lie that we wanted cheaper goods. The lie that Americans who lost their jobs to China/Mexico would be retrained for the jobs of tomorrow.
The lie that producing good paying jobs in Mexico would reduce illegal immigration.
Anyone guess who the biggest employer is in America? Walmart!
The top 10 are services related companies..Amazon, McDonalds etc.

Now, $30 trillion national debt with more to come. $159 trillion unfunded liabilities...promised benefits that will never be fulfilled in coming generations.
Monumental fiscal mismanagement by republicans and democrats alike.
Balanced budget...pffft! Cut federal spending...pffft! Hell, even asking congress to do what is constitutionally mandated...a budget...pffft!
Let’s just lump everything into one gargantuan omnibus spending bill with billions in handouts to foreign nations..giving away money that we BORROW...from China!
The first step toward righting America is to re-start American factories. Putting millions back in to good paying manufacturing positions across America. Start exporting, producing energy, close off our technology to China and make damn sure they stop stealing our intellectual property.

Here’s a hint. If someone starts speaking and uses the word “narrative” pick up your feet ‘cause it is gonna get thick and deep. Whenever someone uses a word, any word, in a new (cool, fashionable, rad, whatever) they are about to pervert the word and start lying.
