It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Rush Limbaugh, a giant of American broadcasting, a uniquely talented performer, and a hugely generous man to whom I owe almost everything.
Rush died this morning, after a year-long struggle with lung cancer. I was scheduled to guest-host today's show. Instead, as you can hear, his beloved Kathryn will be introducing a special program put together by the EIB team to celebrate a great man's life and legacy. It's a hard thing to do - compressing a glorious third-of-a-century into three hours - but Snerdley, Kraig, Mike, Allie and everyone else I've worked with there for so many years will do their best.
Usually, in this line of work, if you're lucky, you get a moment - a year or two when you're the in-thing - and you hope to hold enough of that moment as it slowly fades away to keep you going till retirement. Rush did something unprecedented in the history of TV and radio. Commercial broadcasting began in the United States in 1920: The Rush Limbaugh Show came along two-thirds of a century later, became the Number One program very quickly, and has stayed at the top all the way to today - for a third of the entire history of the medium. And throughout all those decades Rush and his show stayed exactly the same: a forensic breakdown of the day's news, punctuated by musical parodies, satirical sketches, and Rush's own optimism and good humor, even through this last terrible year.

.....”operating with half my brain tied behind my back....” or words to that effect...he was a true patriot and he will be missed.....sorely missed....but not on the left....wait for the hatred coming from those on the left who truly hated him and everything he stood for and supported....
I always suspected that he was at least a lurker. I recognized quips taken straight from these pages.
I know what you mean. I’ve been an on the road salesman for 25 years. No matter where I was if I was behind the windshield I was listening to Rush.
He was an inspiration to me.

The Legend has passed.Long live the Legend! RIP Rush.
I’ll always be thankful to Rush for more than I can even say.
God Bless you Rush... Job impeccably done, Sir.
How wrong they were, Rush was only just getting started back in 1992.
I might get some flack for saying this so soon, but there is only one man who can fill Rush's shoes on the EIB broadcasts. Donald Trump.
Both Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump have proven that they can withstand the brutal hatred of The Left, year after year after year.
While the search goes on for the host that can replace Rush on a permanent basis (and they may never find one), Trump could handle things in the interim and not only hang on to the massive audience but even expand upon it.
Rush drove the Libs to distraction.
The only other man that ever was able to do that to such an extent that I know of is Don Juan Trump.

I wish I could name and thank the CSU Sacramento professor that turned me on to Rush. RIP from Sacramento!!!
I seem to recall years ago that producer Don Simpson or some other Hollywood poobah admitted that many libbies in Hollyweird secretly listened to Rush because they found his show hilarious.
Does anyone know what time Rush passed this morning? Haven’t been able to find it.
I woke up at 3am (EST) with the most profound sense of doom/sadness. Nearly brought me to tears and kept me up for the better part of an hour. Waking up in the middle of the night isn’t unusual for me, but the feeling and its intensity definitely was.
Not the most spiritual person but it was the first thing I thought of when I heard Rush passed this morning. Curious if the timing is close.
Rush was a huge part of my life in the 90's. He solidified my beliefs and made things fun. Great man. I feel terrible for his friends, family, and all of us who loved him so.
Sobering. A sad day for America, American values, and the American dream.
I like to hear a conversation between Rush and Paul Harvey that might be taking place right now.
Well said. Amen.

℣. Eternal rest, grant unto him, O LORD,
℟. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
℣. May he rest in peace.
℟. Amen.

RIP, Rush Limbaugh - American patriot.
Thank you for that tribute, Mr. Steyn. Whenever I’d tune in and here that voice announcing that there was going to be a guest-host, I was always disappointed when I found out it wasn’t you. I have appreciated listening to you over the past few weeks as you’ve paid homage to Rush. You have been speaking for us all in that regard.
Rush...we will miss you...I will miss you.
Same here. I’m watching Newsmax doing a tribute to Rush, and I’m tearing up.
