Trump calls Mitch McConnell 'a dour, sullen and unsmiling political hack' who is 'destroying' the Republican party
Daily Mail ^ | Feb 16 | By GEOFF EARLE, DEPUTY U.S. POLITICAL EDITOR

President Donald Trump denounced Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Tuesday as an 'unsmiling political hack' – days after the Republican party's most senior elected official voted to acquit Trump of inciting the Capitol riot but then blasted his conduct in an excoriating speech.

Trump blamed McConnell, whose office sits steps from where a large group of rioters were arrested on January 6, for causing the loss of two GOP Senate seats. Many GOP consultants and some elected officials have blamed Trump's own election overturn effort for costing the party control of the Senate.

'The Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political 'leaders' like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm,' Trump began in a letter with his new stationary as the '45th President of the United States.

'McConnell's dedication to business as usual, status quo policies, together with his lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality, has rapidly driven him from Majority Leader to Minority Leader, and it will only get worse,' he wrote.

'The Democrats and Chuck Schumer play McConnell like a fiddle—they've never had it so good—and they want to keep it that way! We know our America First agenda is a winner, not McConnell's Beltway First agenda or Biden's America Last.

McConnell is the most powerful member of the Senate, although his effort to navigate impeachment suggested he may have lacked the ability to cross the majority of his conference who was inclined to stick with Trump.

One fellow Republican, Sen. Ron Johnson, even denied this week that there was an armed insurrection in the Capitol.

The 2022 election will be the first battle for the soul of the Republican party, Trump vs. McConnell and the establishment. I expect Trump will eventually win but it may take one or two elections to do it.

I do not believe that a single baseball bat and a single stun gun (which seems to be the extent of things that could be called ‘arms’) carried by delusional idiots without a plan, is grounds for calling the entire affair an ‘armed insurrection’. I’d hardly call it an ‘insurrection’ either for the same reason - no plan just rowdy people, comprising about 1/10 of 1% with the rest of half a million people being mostly peaceful marchers and lookie lou’s, some of which were actively involved in protecting the building and officers therein.

What we did see that was even more shocking, was lawmakers who feel themselves so above the ‘rabble,’ so conditioned to fear the public by the antifa crowd’s summer activities, so into their cocktail circuit elitism, so focused on careers as influencers instead of representatives of The People, that they were afraid to step out to red-roped Statuary Hall, and address the Republican crowd and say, ‘hi, everybody sit down, now, what can we do for you today’? Not one stepped up. That, was the most remarkable, and lasting, impression of the event.

Trump’s correct observation that the Turtle is compromised because his Chinese wife has business dealings with the Chinese is, of course, described as a racist attack by the rag known as the Daily Mail.

Hallelujah...I needed this. Thank you President Trump...

Another very quick scan of the internet failed to find any GOP senators, except Graham and Johnson, taking on McConnell for his weasel-word speech last Saturday. It's very quiet amongst the GOP senators; where's Cruz?...Hawley?...Paul?...Bueller...Bueller...

GOP senators are once again, at least for now, acting like the Uniparty slime I've come to detest. The stunned ducks are probably wobbling around, fretting over making the Rats angry again, like Mistress Peeloosey after the impeachment trial vote.

“””McConnell ‘a dour, sullen and unsmiling political hack’”””

It seems to me that Trump was very polite in his description of McConnell. I would have used more severe words.

Dunno about Mitch, but Lindsey is certainly light in the loafers.

Mitch is def. in the CCP’s pocket, for what that’s worth.

Oddly. McConnell did the right thing in the end by aquitting Trump. No body seems to want to talk about that.

Personally, I am not so wound up about McConnell’s statement like most on this board and Trump.

If I were Trump, I would be focusing my energy on the prosecutors who are looking over him right now and laying low until these investigations are done. But, that’s just me and definitely not Trump.
