I think that’s probably a bit too optimistic. I would be surprised if something very similar to this doesn’t make it to the floor for a House vote. It’s probably less likely it passes because there are quite a few House Dems in tenuous positions. But, in the House, the Speaker has a considerable amount of influence in getting bills to the floor.
If it should pass the House, they probably can’t get 60 votes in the Senate. And/But, they did get 57 votes to convict, so they’re probably closer than anyone on our side would like to admit. IOW, I wouldn’t bet the farm on Collins, Romney and Sasse helping to stop this bill.
The Dems proved with Obamacare that they will spend political capital to get long term policies and laws enacted. Would they blow their majority to destroy the 2nd Amendment? Sure they would.

The Dems have said they will do away with the Senate filibuster, and all bills will only require a majority vote to pass in the Senate.
