This was always the Dem plan. Make a pinata out of POTUS, divide the GOP and move on to other Senate business in a timely manner. Had the shoe been on the other foot the Dems would have gummed up the Senate works for months on end. Guaranteed.
So, the remaining card to be played is the 14th Amendment arguing that Trump participated in an insurrection and therefore can be barred from standing for election or serving in government. This assertion is more ridiculous than the Impeachment. Making a speech, something protected by the 1st Amendment, cannot constitute participating in an insurrection. Not to mention that the demonstration at the Capitol on Jan 6 was not an insurrection.
As you say, their next move is to hold a pocketful of votes intended to cement the Democrat hold on the Congress and the Presidency and put an end to the experiment in democracy. If they have their way, the U.S. will join China, Iran, North Korea, and many other countries firmly in the hands of tyrants pretending to be legitimate leaders.
