Closing arguments at former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial were expected to get underway Saturday morning — with each side granted two hours to make their final case to the US Senate before an expected vote on the verdict later in the day.
But Day 5 started instead with House impeachment manager Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) asking to subpoena records and call a witness sparking fierce debate with Trump defense lawyer Michael van der Venn.

McConnell is not his own man. He’s teed off the events of the year, prompted by DJT, have made obvious the Uniparty’s subordination to the CCP
Rand Paul would be great. Heard Cruz earlier today (outside the Senate Chamber) and he did a good job of defending the President. Would be nice if he could find a way to get up and speak before the Senate too. Or Rand Paul - either one.
What is an even scarier thought, is that they don’t care. So whats their next move? They turn on the American people.
Now is when conspiracies become reality. They’re coming for us.
McConnell should have used his first speech from the Senate floor after this impeachment trial is over to calm the nation. He should’ve talked about the fact that every person deserves a legal defense and that attacks on Trump’s lawyers have no place in the United States of America. Instead he comes out and attacks Trump again. mine boggling.
Yes, they are. That said, they are so far gone at this point that their anger and hatred will destroy them long before they destroy us. I am shocked that Nancy Pelosi, for one, hasn’t had a heart attack on the floor of the House b/c her vitriol has to blow her blood pressure sky high.
McConnell is not the first pol who looked down his nose on populism. And he won’t be the last to be put, politically speaking, through the grinder of a populace sick and tired of the loss of liberty, property and safety.

Take into account of the power grabs by the nwo crowd and ask, where is this heading?
Every American should ask that question. They attacked the 1’st and now they’ll be coming for the second. Laws are being passed now silently to that effect.
These are Prophetic times.
I agree with you. But the level which these people are acting is not sustainable and they will succumb. In different ways, at different times. In the meantime, the rest of us need to do everything possible to be prepared for what they have planned and counter it at every opportunity.
How ironic and tragic that McConnell couldn't summon the courage to fight Schumer etc. instead of Trump. Of course. Trump was at a disadvantage this time, who knows what the future holds.?
He didn’t fight Schumer because they are on the same team.
Atty Castor interview on Fox: said he is used to death threats and vandalism. Said his wife and police are dealing with that.
Said other members of his team are not experienced with threats and violence.
Said Atty Van der Veen’s house was vandalized last night when his wife was at home.

Graffiti painted outside Trump attorney van der Veen’s suburban Philadelphia home

“...graffiti were reported around 8 p.m. Friday at the home of attorney Michael van der Veen.
The Philadelphia Inquirer posted a photo showing the word “Traitor” in red paint at the entrance of the driveway and an arrow pointing to the home.”
Someone on one of the networks said (paraphrased) the Senators hate us because we’re not low-income enough to be cool, or elite enough to be cool. We’re there in the middle, and they hate us. We’re not useful.
Certainly looks that way... Whatever the reason, the result is a threat to life, liberty and property.
They have just performed a coup. They expected a bloody fight but did not get it. Not even a whimper.
Good points...Congressman McCarthy and President Trump have no legal obligation to tell us what they talked about...
It is possible that either of them could be asked to testify under oath to some commission investigating January 6...To discuss the phone call...Then what? I don't think President Trump would ever agree to testify before such a commission...I don't know what Congressman McCarthy would do in a such case...
Then they site executive privilege which is a well know and often used phrase. Every president uses it to keep conversations with the president confidential, otherwise no President Trump could ever trust talking to anyone.
No president darn autocorrect
