Closing arguments at former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial were expected to get underway Saturday morning — with each side granted two hours to make their final case to the US Senate before an expected vote on the verdict later in the day.
But Day 5 started instead with House impeachment manager Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) asking to subpoena records and call a witness sparking fierce debate with Trump defense lawyer Michael van der Venn.

Further Trump could not order anything because it was not his jurisdiction, other agencies could respond IF they were invited by the Capitol police. He said the three branches have their own protection and just rushing in uninvited could have resulted in blue on blue chaos.

Raskin really is insane: he’s a psychopath, i.e., a malignant narcissist. You can see him preening on the Senate floor as if it’s his property. His attitude towards the Senators is one of contempt - he’s the important person here, not them. They are only bit players in his show. And because of that, he’s NOT going to let go: it’s literally not in his DNA to allow that.
Letting it go on may have an upside, but it’s utterly dangerous because it will legitimize a totally un-Constitutional process of political villification by one party against the other. The Communists remember McCarthy and are returning the favor.
