The Senate voted Tuesday to move ahead with the unprecedented impeachment trial of former President Trump after listening to hours of arguments on whether it is constitutional to try a president who is already out of office.

The vote was 56-44.

Trump's legal team said the trial is unconstitutional because he's no longer in office and can't face removal, which is the standard judgment of an impeachment conviction.

Okay Rinos can make a choice: A) Trump is still president, or B) Bring up Obama Clinton Bush and other presidents for impeachment

Exactly. The senate vote is purely for show. If this ever came to a scotus vote, it would be found to be unconstitutional.

44 senators just found it unconstitutional.

That means President Trump will not be found guilty.

6 GOP senators that are incapable of reading plain English. That makes them unqualified for their seat.

If impeaching Trump is constitutional, then it must also be constitutional to impeach Benedict Cumberbatch of England. Seriously, when should I inform Mr. Cumberbatch that he too will be impeached? Maybe we should also impeach those green men who live on Mars.

Cassidy was just reelected. I guess he thinks voters will forget six years from now. I hope they do not.

If you have to vote if something is constitutional, it’s not constitutional.

Because the Democrats and six traitors say it’s constitutional doesn’t make it so. It is clearly stated, to remove from office and to be presided over by the Chief Justice. Neither of which is happening, TOTAL fraud.

So the “judge”. The ancient Senator Leahy was also a juror voting to continue this farce? I kind of wish Trump would lose so he can appeal to the Supreme Court who should make it clear this whole exercise is a sham... but of course he won’t lose as the traitors don’t have the numbers. Republicans sure have a lot of turncoats to primary out next time they come up. Of course with Roberts on the SC they would probably refuse to take the case claiming no standing. We have impotent Republicans and a few castrated justices to deal with or we are doomed!

-- A court decides if it is legal. --

LOL. As if courts get it right. It is only agreement of definition that gives them the power. Courts hallucinated abortion and homo marriage right into the constitution.

-- This sham trial is a miscarriage of justice. --

Meh. It's to be expected of a sham government. I don't think the courts would be any more intellectually honest. Outcome first, rationale after.

They are scared of losing their office
or
They have been bought off
or
They have been threatened.

All constitutional lawyers say you cannot impeach a citizen. So there has to be a reason why they are doing this. Use brain. I don’t know but there has to be a reason.

Every single member of Congress who voted for this UN-CONSTITUTIONAL “farce” should be expelled for violating their oath of office. PERIOD.

The effort today by his counsel were wussified and pathetic.

Do you really think what anyone says is going to make one iota of difference the final vote? Do you think anyone will be swayed by logic? The vote you see today is the vote you’ll see.
