Pennsylvania's state's election code did not have a law stating that absentee ballots could be rejected based on a lack of signature comparisons during the canvassing process.
The stupidity of the republican led legislature, in 2019 (Before Covid lock downs) to allow mail-in voting schemes was idiotic to say the least.
§3146.8.Canvassing of official absentee ballots and mail-in ballots says nothing about signature verification (Because the idiotic Republican legislature "forgot" to add that enumerated provision). State Supreme Court fed off that and unanimously ruled that the Republican Pennsylvania legislatures lack of foresight should not be rectified through the court. In fact, the legislature in 2020,
eliminated time-of-canvassing challenges entirelyfrom Section 3146.8(g)(3).
