In a letter this morning to Democratic majority leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), 48 Republican senators have pledged to oppose any spending bill that does not contain the Hyde amendment or other pro-life protections.
Since 1976, Hyde has been added on a bipartisan basis to federal spending bills to prevent taxpayer money from directly reimbursing abortion providers for the cost of elective abortions.

RE: Exclusive: 48 Senators Promise to Oppose Any Bill that Funds Abortion.....
Well, this isn’t good news. We need 51.
The only reason 48 “promised” to do so is because they know their votes are empty. It’s all show as they did nothing but hide while POTUS Trump was left to fight the Deep State Animals all by his lonesome.
48 < 51.
Republicans always stand tall when they are in the minority. When they have no chance of winning they make a show of conservatism. When they are in the majority they fail to stick together most of the time.
Without even reading the article I know Lisa Murkowski is one of the two. I’m guessing Susan Collins is the other one. I’m surprised Willard is one of the 48.
Wow. That’s almost half.
Which side wins, again? The side with less than half, or the side with more than half?
This is just the Omniparty’s opiate for conservatives. “See! The GOP is on your side!”
Yep. I think they like being in the minority. They can send out scary fundraising letters, but they don’t have to actually accomplish anything. Coast along and collect the graft. Retire after decades of grifting with a retirement package we peons can only dream of, and be called a “public servant”. Barf.
No Democrats? I guess they don’t really stand for the little guy.
“48 < 51.”
Yes, but 48 > 40...
“Because the letter received the signatures of 48 Republicans in the Senate, pro-life lawmakers have the votes to filibuster any legislation that isn’t considered under reconciliation.”
