‘See you in court,’ Beshear tells legislative leaders on taking up his vetoes this week

A frustrated Gov. Andy Beshear said late Monday he will go to court if state lawmakers this week override his vetoes of legislation that limits his authority to issue and enforce emergency orders to limit the spread of COVID-19.

His comment came after the top two legislative leaders — Senate President Robert Stivers and House Speaker David Osborne — sent him a one-page letter earlier in the day telling the Democratic governor that they plan to vote on his vetoes this week and can talk later with him.

The two Republican leaders said that regardless of the outcome of the legislature’s votes on the vetoes, “we will be happy to sit down with you as soon as schedules allow and talk about what modifications might improve the legislation and its application to the ongoing pandemic.”

That did not sit well with Beshear.

Several of his vetoes have in fact already been overridden as of this time.

The main thing they do is basically take away the ability of a governor to reign as dictator indefinitely without any legislative oversight. The legislature is also trying to get a Constitutional amendment passed that would allow the legislature to call itself into session...as of now, outside of normal legislative calender, they cannot - only the governor can...allowing him to do whatever he wants with zero oversight.

Isnt overriding a veto part of the legislature’s intrinsic autbority?

Can any court legitimatly hear the matter?

They are serious about impeachment up to the point where Thayer realized that would result in Gov. Jacqueline "Karen" Coleman.

It's very telling that Lil' Andy could not talk himself aboard the Xiden puppet-state train, despite any number of open czarships.

You'd think he'd fit right in with Fauxi given the number of times Lil' Andy has been caught maskless like Lil' Tony; particularly enjoyed this one from last July...

Good summary.
I’m for the Executive handling pandemics and other emergencies, but there have to be limits. Especially when it drags on and on and on.

Democrat dictators don’t like their assumed authority being questioned

Pardon my skepticism but I’d like to see the details of that poll. The fact that this rat governor is pushing it so hard makes me very suspicious.

Oust the wacko, now!

He’s wanting to challenge the new laws themselves.

But that would require the earlier legislatures to have been all powerful to where no subsequent meeting of the legislature can amend or repeal any law...which doesn’t happen.

The Kentucky Supreme Court is ultra left. In a 105 page ruling not long ago it essentially make Baby Doc Beshear a dictator.

It will rule any legislation that contradicts him to be unconstitutional. As long as a leftist is in the statehouse, our SC will overrule our legislature if it opposes him. IMO our SC believes we have no need of a legislature if we have a Rat for governor.

The KY SC is elected as "non partisan", so the people have no clue they are voting for commies.

"Oust the wacko, now!"

Max, when Lil' Andy got caught maskless from that pic, he had a hissy fit and withdrew his kid from their 'traveling' baseball team, complaining that people had taken pics of his family.

No, they'd taken pics of Lil' Andy maskless and other pics that show him maskless outside his home state. He got caught by the ears and he pissanted about it like a teenage girl.

Cameron is going to lay a election beating upon Lil' Andy that generations of political scientists will remark scandalously upon an incumbent governor of any state losing 80-20.

Know this too—he was elected using Dominion voting machines. He won by 4000 votes. He is not the legitimate governor of Kentucky, Louisville did the same thing those states did, stop counting at 11, and Bershere wins in the morning.

The court will hear it and grant the injunction against the vetos. Beshear has the Kentucky Supreme Court in his pocket. It’s mainly dems, although they are elected on a “nonpartisan” ticket.

80-20

Hate to tell you this but the Karens of eastern Jefferson County absolutely love themselves some lil’ Andy. They believe lil’ Andy cares more about their children than their cuck husbands do.

Cameron could theoretically beat lil’ Andy, but in the age of the Dominion voting machine I am done with making election predictions....

I think it is Ryan Quarles and Alison Ball that will run against Andy as a ticket.

Daniel Cameron I think will run for re-election to AG and then run for Senate in 2026.

He won because Bevin continually put his foot in his mouth, with the final nail being coming out for tolls in northern Kentucky just before the election and losing a bunch of votes there he would have had - some of those red counties were colored light blue on the map.

Alison Ball would be great as a Lt. Gov companion for Cameron. Quarles -- please name the last Ag Comm to win the Governor's race. The irony is that Comer and even Richie believed it to be so. Even Billy Ray Smith.

No, Cameron has the imprimatur of Miotch to be Kentucky's first African-American governor, and it might very well be Miotch's last political patrimony that actually succeeds.

Lil' Andy is doomed to 1-term (and Xiden didn't even want him for a czarship); and Cameron will have the best name recog going in, having rejected the St. Breanna bullshit by directly interviewing and locking down the old man's testimony who was shouting at Breanna and Walker that night from the scaffold, that the 'po'lice was here' and told LMPD to 'git'; and Cameron also ably supported Judge Walker's decision that re-opened the churches on Easter Sunday.

"He won because Bevin continually put his foot in his mouth"

Bevin's obsession in his last year in office that casino goers are suicidal, was as damaging to Bevin as Hillary's last-minute revelation that Podesta et al were deeply into Marina Abramovic's satanic "Spirit Cooking".

Your argument is not without merit re: Ag. Commissioner, though Quarles has been much more out front and center than any other in a very long time.

I still think that the plan at this point is Quarles / Ball for 2023 Governor / Lt. Governor with Cameron running for re-election as AG, and Cameron running to succeed McConnell...if not being appointed with McConnell retiring early...in fact that may have been in cards earlier than 2023...the Beshear victory was not part of the plan, despite the fact Bevin and McConnell were not exactly buddies - McConnell had a lot of cash flowing in trying to help Bevin get re-elected.

It will be interesting, that is for sure. There is a big bench of talented young candidates up and coming to take over as the old guard fades away.
