The press will give them to him. They will resent being used as sock puppets rather than the equal partners that they think they are but they’ll do it anyway. What else can they do, act tough now? So just say your lines like you agreed, sock puppets, write your puff pieces like you were instructed and leave the dictatorship to the real bosses.
