Exactly. Guns are outlawed in Mexico, but almost every Mexican has a gun. How is this possible?
Simple: if you can smuggle drugs, you can smuggle guns, and when AK-47s can be manufactured in a cave in Afghanistan, they can be made anywhere. Just more blather from the perpetually-upset class.
Read years ago the same was true of Germany. Lots of illegal guns from the old Soviet block. Americans likewise own all sorts of illegal drugs, so since the government passed laws against drugs why are they still a problem?
