Boebert bill to block Paris climate agreement reignites Senate ratification debate

Rep. Lauren Boebert, Colorado Republican, has introduced a bill to block the Biden administration from reentering the Paris agreement until it receives Senate confirmation, a nod to the longstanding debate over the accord’s legitimacy.

Her bill, which has 11 GOP cosponsors, bars Congress from appropriating funds to implement the international climate accord until it receives Senate ratification, a step that former President Obama skipped when he used his executive authority to enter the agreement in 2016.

“My bill prohibits Congress from spending a single penny on the Paris Agreement until this treaty is ratified by the United States Senate,” said Ms. Boebert in a Thursday press release. “Joe Biden took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution. If he wants to keep it, he must transmit the job-killing Paris Agreement to the U.S. Senate for ratification.”

The bill has little chance of passing the Democrat-controlled House, but the legislation has drawn attention to the debate over whether the Paris accord is an executive agreement, as the Obama administration maintained, or a treaty that requires the advice and consent of the Senate under the Constitution.

If you ever see her on social media, support her. There is a large contingent of ankle-biters that shred her every time she posts something. It’s almost like they are getting paid...

I'm constantly getting solicitation texts to give to the GOP...I've refused, with comment, since the election.

Now I'm making a list of individuals I'll donate to. Boebert is one, Matt Gaetz is another.

“Maybe Trump should have gone that route to kill it permanently.”

President Trump acted perfectly. He undid the global warming Paris scam on his own volition since it never was approved in the Senate.

To go to those propped up fools would only embolden the globalists who seek control and with no upside.

At least this mobilizes people to get up and yell about it.

I hope she sticks to her guns on this....

I have no doubt that she will. But it will go nowhere in a Pelosi controlled House.

Her bill has no chance of passing a Democrat house, but it is a great issue for the 2022 elections to help the Republicans win back the House and the Senate

It’s a treaty. References in the agreement’s legislative history describe it as such.

And there should be 40 lawsuits challenging each and every one of them.

Why did it take a Freshman Republican to introduce this bill to rejoin Paris climate agreement fraud? Where was Kevin McCarthy and other supposed leadership?

Your question answers why I will only donate to individuals, no longer to the GOP.

Good question, as to why the Paris agreement was never considered to be a treaty, which required Senate ratification.

Ditto with the Iran agreement, which also was never ratified as a treaty.

Both of these are good examples, of Obama simply signing on to something, supposedly committing our nation to certain actions and agreements, without the proper constitutional authorization and procedure being followed.

No.

“He undid the global warming Paris scam on his own since it was never approved in the Senate.”
True; which left the door wide open for it to return as soon as the deep state globalists returned to power.

If President Trump had submitted it for ratification, it would not be so easy to reinstate by EO.
