Can a senate censure of a private citizen forbidding holding a future office stand up in court? Even if they added the 14th amendment, that would be very subjective as PDJT has never been found guilty of insurrection or aid and comfort to enemy.
If they do this I would expect President Trump to take it to court.

The Civil War ended in 1865. That 14th amendment provision only applies to those who actually waged war. Trump did not.

His allies expunged it later.
Censure has no constitutional basis and can be repealed, when Trump allies regain control of Congress.

It isn't. Congress can't censure or impeach a private citizen.
Section Three of 14th Amendment was obviously meant to apply to former Confederate officials. It was not meant to be a tool for witch-hunters of the future.
Anyway, this proposal by Collins is more than just vile and nasty. It is exceedingly dangerous. Because if it actually flies, then any person Congress doesn’t particularly like can be barred from both future federal and state office.
“Hey, you. We think that post you made on social media could incite an insurrection. You are therefore barred from future public office.”
Good luck it will not work.

So typical of the GOP to throw a lifeline to Democrats when they are drowning. When the tables are turned, of course, the Dems shove Republicans under water until they drown.
First they go unconstitutional, then they go really unconstitutional.

They should do a motion that exiles Trump.
We should all calm down until Collins says what she is willing to do. This is a leak from a Dem Senator’s office who is obviously trying to pressure her into what he wants her to do.
I suspect now the Dems will take Collins up on this offer and retreat from the hoax impeachment ASAP. The last thing the Dems want now after Gamestop is a fake impeachment hearing where Hawley or some other GOPer gets up and starts railing about a rigged system.
