Texas Rep. Introduces Bill That Would Let Residents Vote on Seceding From the US

Texas State Representative Kyle Biedermann introduced a bill on Tuesday that would allow Texans to vote on seceding from the United States.

House Bill 1359, otherwise known as the Texas Independence Referendum Act, would let residents vote on if the Texas Legislature should create a joint interim committee to create a plan for independence for the state.

In a press release provided to The Gateway Pundit, the Texas Nationalist Movement explained that “the bill would give Texans an opportunity to head to the polls in November of 2021 and start the process of reasserting our status as an independent nation. If the people vote in favor, the bill provides for the establishment of a committee to begin working on a transitional plan which would address all of the issues related to decoupling from the federal government.”

Texas Nationalist Movement President Daniel Miller added that, “this bill is simply to put the question to the people of Texas. Even if legislators don’t personally support TEXIT, at a minimum, they should support your right to publicly debate and vote on the issue. Your representatives either believe that you are smart and responsible enough to make this decision, or they believe that they know what’s best for you regardless of what you think. There is no middle ground.

“The people of Texas are sick and tired of living under 180,000 pages of federal laws administered by 2.5 million unelected bureaucrats,” said Miller. “At the end of the day, the best people to govern Texas are Texans, and this vote will give us that chance.”

Representative Biedermann said that the national government is failing Texans and they should be allowed to vote on leaving the union.

“This Act simply lets Texans vote through a referendum..

I don't think that's an accurate prediction of the breakup of the states.

I think Missouri would join the southern states.

It's a hard guess, K.C. and St. Louis are liberal as hell but the rest of the state are mostly conservative.

Texas is NOT landlocked. They have the Gulf coast ports.
Louisiana would join Alabama may also, and other states.

Someone posted over 24 states that should join Texas, and it could work. Food—Energy—are in the central states. The coasts can sink or swim on their own. They have deliberately CONTAMINATED themselves with illegals & criminals. Let them live with their own messes.

I agree full heartedly!!

"They can load the Clinton Presidential Library in Little
Rock on a flatbed and ship it to a blue state."

Clinton's "library" should be shipped to Harlem in NYC.
Bill Clinton made a big public affair of establishing
his office in Harlem.
Let his library be there.

But, darling, what if the other Great Plain States don’t want you either...it sounds like you might have to consider the cities that the dems occupy.

I can think of three reasons not to want to hook up with Texas: George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Lyndon Baines Johnson.

“...Many of those libtard enclaves will empty out or simply join....”

We’d just tell em: “If you like your commie liberalism, you can keep your commie liberalism. Just take it with you when you leave.”

I played that way back in the day, probably almost 20 years ago. I liked it a lot and still remember it on the original Xbox

We can also declare a state a Sanctuary for anything Democrats want to take away. There are already numerous Sanctuary States for the Second Amendment. Do the same to defend freedom of speech or other Constitutional rights.

You don’t have to secede. You can maintain the rest of the legal system. And you can add or remove legal protections as necessary.

Furthermore, you can do things on a county or city level ... so you don’t have to kick out all the blue city voters, just ignore them.

We will no longer be “One Nation Under God Indivisible”

Secession is a creative process and not a destructive one. Think of it like cell division in nature.

I’m looking at it in the same way, secession is a creative process.

I misspoke. I should have said more like Sonora or Chihuahua.

I figure that because to the current size of the Hispanic population in Texas and the disparity in birthrates between Hispanic and White populations. With in a few years, the majority population in Texas could well be Hispanic.

What you really should have said was Switzerland, Austria, or Hungary. The plains states have an educated workforce, a prosperous economy, and a robust infrastructure. Lack of a seaport is absolutely no barrier to independence. We can import and export through existing ports regardless of which country they are in.

Are the demographics of Texas the same as Switzerland or Austria?

Secession is a stupid idea. Our Founders knew that we are stronger together than if we start separating out to do on our own. That is why they adopted certain symbols like this one by Ben Franklin:

And this one used by the Roman Republic and honored by George Washington:

"This ancient emblem called a fasces served as the symbol of civil authority in the Roman Republic. Originally it was an axe bound among a collection of rods held together with a red strap. The fasces could be presented to restore order or to carry out punishment. Our founding fathers found deep inspiration for our own experiment, as a Republic, from the Romans and adopted the symbol to represent Congress. Just as the thin rods of the fasces become stronger when bound together, so the states find stability and strength while working collectively in the House and Senate in the Capitol building."

And eventually this symbol and its motto "E Pluribus Unum" which means "out of many one."

Question - What are the smaller states to do if Texas makes a run for it?

Answer - "Texas can make it without the United States, but the United States can't make it without Texas" ~ Governor Sam Houston
