The Trump “defense” can play the video of his remarks and then play lots of video of democrat leaders condoning the riots and when Antifa/BLM stormed the White House, lit the National Cathedral on fire, and injured 60 capital police officers.

Just play them over and over. It really is the best defense.

The fact that the first month of the democrat congress will be occupied with impeachment and dominated by Trump is amusing.

FWIW - I do not think Trump’s defense will be allowed to discuss fraud despite the filing.

Not a state legislature. "The people" exercise their power under the Constitution in this case ONLY through their state legislatures.

Read the Constitution. Yes, senators are elected in each state by popular vote, but I don't recall the amendment allowing that popular vote rescinding the other rights that state legislatures exercise over Senators under the original Constitutional authority. It's an interesting question.
