I remember an interview of a North Korean citizen on a documentary a couple of years ago—the citizen was a low level party operative.
He kept repeating the same phrase over and over:
“I am so grateful to our fearless leader.”
After listening to the earnestness and definite sincerity with which he said those words, I realized that he was telling the truth.
You see, the “fearless leader” could have him executed at any moment.
The fact that he was alive was totally at the discretion of the “fearless leader”.
So—he was not resentful, he was grateful.
That is how “unity” works.
