He kept repeating the same phrase over and over:

After listening to the earnestness and definite sincerity with which he said those words, I realized that he was telling the truth.
You see, the “fearless leader” could have him executed at any moment.
The fact that he was alive was totally at the discretion of the “fearless leader”.
So—he was not resentful, he was grateful.

Remember, the so-called robber barons gave us: oil [Rockefeller saved the whales], steel, affordable transportation [Vanderbilt was hated because he broke the monopoly of high priced transport to NY]. They had great financial power because they created great wealth for everyone.
