The history is different than what you present. TR bolted the Republican Party after they were disrespected at the Republican convention in the summer of 1916. Trump is setting this up years in advance of any election. The history of the 1916 presidential elections was that the Republicans came in third, not second. Either the rogue Republican legislators fall in line with Trump and the rank and file that elected them, or they will be gone in the next election. What is wrong with that?

It’s not possible to take it over from within because it is so corrupt and tied to the DC swamp. Why else do you think they crapped all over Trump during the election? Trump was the best thing that happened to the GOP in decades, he got lots of new ones elected and older ones reelected. It actually made the repubs popular again only to be shit on by the GOPe.

You will never get rid of McCain’s, Ryan’s, Romney’s and the likes.

A bigger factor is that the GOP committed massive suicide Jan 6th. I do not ever plan on voting for a republican again at the fed level.

A spot on comment. A 3rd Party initiative is suicidal for conservatives. It will go nowhere in 2022 or 2024. Splitting the conservative is just a bad strategy.
