There is no way a mileage tax will be a replacement for gas taxes.

It will be IN ADDITION TO, the gas taxes we already pay.

And look for a gas tax increase no matter what. Pete B.
lamented that the federal gas tax hasn’t gone up since 1993,and is not indexed to inflation. The implication being that he is eager for a big tax increase.

So how will.they know how many miles we drive in order to bill us and collect?

1. We need to report to DMV annually and have them check our odometer.

2. Turn every road into a toll road, with transponders and cameras recording our movements, and charging a credit card or bank account, similar to what is done on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and other toll roads.

I was taking with a politician one time that was complaining they needed to raise the road tax cause there were twice as many cars on the road doing damage to the road.

I told him if there were twice as many cars on the road aren’t they collecting twice as much gas tax now? No answer.
