I was a UA member from 79-94 and the leadership always endorsed every Democrat that ran. Even as they openly supported environmental policy which included shutting down Nuke plant construction and oil related industries they would support them. I would argue with them this would kill our jobs but it fell on deaf ears.
The only time they didn’t was in 1984 and without supporting Reagan, they came out and said to support your local candidates that would support projects that would benefit us.
Unions are like the black voters...

Don’t know what they are upset about (if they really are). Biden told them what was coming. One example, from a pro-environmentalist website November 24, 2020: ““Biden strongly opposed the Keystone pipeline in the last administration, stood alongside President Obama and Secretary Kerry to reject it in 2015, and will proudly stand in the Roosevelt Room again as President and stop it for good by rescinding the Keystone XL pipeline permit,” the statement said.”

The GOP has alienated its base - middle-class blue collar workers - by conspiring with the left to take down Trump. Now Biden disses his base by shafting the unions, who are of the working class as well.
Do you suppose there is common ground for a new party here? The strangest of bedfellows, I know, but you have to draw followers from somewhere. You can't have a majority without at least SOME former Democrats in it, right?
