It's a lot easier to unify, or at least peacefully go your own way, when the government is 5% of your life. When half of everything you produce is taken by one government or another and everything you do is mandated, controlled, limited or prohibited then every action becomes a political action.

If you want to be a freak, go ahead. But when you demand I not only tolerate it but celebrate it and all the children must be taught that it is the best way then the fighting starts. Just imagine if we took over and required every liberal's kids to learn how to field strip and get a marksman's proficiency with both pistol and rifle while memorizing quotes from Ronald Reagan to graduate school no matter how much the parents objected.

Not long ago, the nation unified around common beliefs in the goodness of the USA and our ideals. We all repeated these ideals every morning when we recited “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” It was a very strong core belief system that united all immigrants and natives alike behind national ideals.

The cultural marxists intentionally destroyed that and are forcing us to pledge allegiance to this sort of thing...
