House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that there was “no circumstance” under which President Donald Trump should receive intelligence briefings once he leaves office.
Schiff said, “There is no circumstance in which this president should get another intelligence briefing, not now, not in the future.”
He added, “I don’t think he can be trusted with it now, and in the future, he certainly can’t be trusted. Indeed, there were any number of intelligence partners of ours around the world who probably started withholding information from us because they didn’t trust the president would safeguard that information and protect the sources and methods. That makes us less safe.

The only reason I could see for an ex POTUS to get briefings is so they could stay apprised of events should a new admin want to consult with them in an emergency.

What universe do these people live in? It’s so painfully obvious they are just doing what their boss man says. Full bore charge into the breech regardless of how absurd, hypocritical, unconstitutional or shameful it may be.
Which makes me wonder—if there was credible intelligence of a planned attack on the Capitol on January 6, it seems that the President wasn’t briefed about it or he would have altered his plans.

For what’s it worth, Churchill continued the practice of briefing Chamberlain on the war effort after the latter had left office. I wondered about why and concluded he was being magnanimous in his victory and trying not to rub in Chamberlain’s loss. But why would an official who is out of office still continue to receive what should be need-to-know briefings? It makes no sense.
There is no doubt that they are going to try to imprison Trump. He needs to have plan for exit. Russia might take him.

Adam Schiff is a very troubled man. He should not be trusted with the chore of walking the dog, which he would turn in to the dogcatcher.
And think of himself as a conscientious citizen.
Schiff shouldn’t be trusted when he is IN office.

I’m sure Hillary, Comey, Bush and anyone at that high level are still receiving them.

with the government, past and present, should have top-security clearance? Why?

excellent point. He might at least have included some additional comments about peaceful protesting at the Capitol. Until Jan 6, however, there had been ZERO violence or even trespassing by any Trump supporter at a Trump rally.
Obama has a direct line to every bureaucrat in DC from his office. There’s a reason he installed internet trunk lines to his HQ.
