If Fox News wants to restore its cable news ratings dominance, changes will have to be visible far lower in its organization than what is being reported.
Though I was angry over its election night coverage and have been dismayed at the behavior of a number of its on-air personalities, I take no joy in the ratings crisis that seems to be engulfing Fox News. For all its faults, its reach, resources, and stable of outstanding talent like Tucker Carlson make it an essential voice in a nation with a media scene that is getting scarier by the day. There is no doubt in my mind that, if FNC disappeared or lost its cable system distribution, as at least one of its rivals seems to be advocating, conservatism would be in a much weaker position.
Yesterday, The Daily Beast published an article with four authors, one of them a departed FNC staffer who charged sexual harassment and settled for an undisclosed sum, claiming:

For months the kept citing real clear politics and others that the republicans were to lose 10-15 seats. For months the said this. The exact opposite happened. Not even statistically possible. They also kept showing polls with Trump down 8 pts.+. Complete dishonesty. We need and deserve names.
This was the end result of ‘voting the lesser of two evils’, it was always too urgent to take the political hit,by not doing that and here we are. I used to really love the ‘by gum,we’ll,we’ll hold their feet to the fire’, yep, that worked out so well.

Roger Ailes discovered a niche that was, as the late Charles Krauthammer joked, "half the country." That is a market position that is enviable and worked like a charm for many years. Discarding it was a mistake.
This FOX 'mistake' is right up there with JC Penney deciding to dump their middle class base in favor of upper income gay men who would no more shop at Penney for clothes than Walmart. Similar to some fool at Coke deciding a 'New Coke' was a good idea - giving the finger to the vast majority of their customers.
FOXNews has had liberals since the beginning but NONE like Chris Wallace who feels it's his job to 'school' the stupid conservatives with manipulation. That was a deal breaker right up there with hiring a woman who gave Hillary debate questions.
And Juan? Always liked him years ago - now his idea of 'debate' is to roll his eyes and shake his head as if 'he's too good to debate the issues' with 'deplorables'... Hey Juan - I remember when blacks were treated with "that same elitist BS" - and I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. It's the attitude that's offensive - an attitude that transcends race and time. Get over yourself Juan - and rejoin the team....

right now advertisers are busily cutting off anyone tainted with common sense conservatism. The Market is being severely affected by the prospects of government retaliation for doing business with or hiring known or suspected conservatves.
FOX will never stage a comeback. They have banished themselves into the Outer Worlds.
