To: Its All Over Except ...

Congress is one of the three equal branches of our system of government. What would you think if a bunch of BLM thugs broke into the White House, chased off Donald Trump (don’t imagine for a second that he’d stare them down — I doubt he’s been in a confrontation outside the courtroom in his life), and then took over the oval office? What would you call that? I don’t care whose desk it is. Those people marauding through the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday need to be arrested and dealt with severely.

My, you are a bit of a different breed here on the new, improved Free Republic since 2016. You even strike me as somebody for Law and Order and the Constitution. Better watch it, bud.

You do realize that Trump was under sufficient threat during the BLM/Antifa protests that the Secret Service hustled him into the White House bunker, don’t you? The media laughed at his cowardice and urged more of the same from the crowd participating in the siege. (Of course, it wasn’t a real siege - that would involve a serious body count, and bullets flying from both sides).

So what kind of prison sentences would you suggest for these savage interlopers? 30 years hard labor? The needle? As far as I’m concerned, if they had penetrated the White House and sat in the Oval Office? A few days in jail, followed by a release without charges. The nation has real criminals to deal with. This was a failure of crowd control, not an insurrection (which would have involved weaponry). What they were guilty of, just like BLM/Antifa during the White House siege, is lese majeste, at most. Since our elected representatives are supposed to be our followers rather than leaders/kings, lese majeste is a virtue, not a crime.
