The Leftists are acting very paranoid after their supposed election victory. Definitely not the behavior expected of winners.
Party ownership of the print media
made it easy to manipulate public opinion,
and the film and radio carried the process further.
....... The Ministry of Truth, Winston's place of work, contained, it was said, three thousand rooms above ground level, and corresponding ramifications below. The Ministry of Truth concerned itself with Lies. Party ownership of the print media made it easy to manipulate public opinion, and the film and radio carried the process further. The primary job of the Ministry of Truth was to supply the citizens of Oceania with newspapers, films, textbooks, telescreen programmes, plays, novels - with every conceivable kind of information, instruction, or entertainment, from a statue to a slogan, from a lyric poem to a biological treatise, and from a child's spelling-book to a Newspeak dictionary. Winston worked in the RECORDS DEPARTMENT (a single branch of the Ministry of Truth) editing and writing for The Times. He dictated into a machine called a speakwrite. Winston would receive articles or news-items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to alter, or, in Newspeak, rectify. If, for example, the Ministry of Plenty forecast a surplus, and in reality the result was grossly less, Winston's job was to change previous versions so the old version would agree with the new one. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound-tracks, cartoons, photographs - to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. . . . And somewhere or other, quite anonymous, there were the directing brains who co-ordinated the whole effort and laid down the lines of policy which made it necessary that this fragment of the past should be preserved, that one falsified, and the other rubbed out of existence. |
Want all you wish - it has NEVER happened before; it will NEVER happen.
Like any struggle that is worthwhile; you only need MORE on your side than the other.
Unless you are Gideon.
Soon; we won't be able to buy of sell with out the number; uh... password.
Your post nearly brings me to tears because you so eloquently expressed how I feel, as well. Thank you.
Who's in charge of the HIRING??
It seems that the ONLY recourse we have left is to REPENT! and turn from our evil ways!
Well...we do. It turns out we have a lot of evil ways. A lot of them.
People don’t need to be evil themselves to be a part of evil, and we all fit that in one way or another.
All of us. There is a lot of work to do that, and we can be sure that the people who are evil (and there are a lot of them) are going to use every means at their disposal in the next four years to paint us as evil.
For them, I will only quote this biblical item, that I have heard and is fresh to me in my search for a relationship with God:
Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who turn darkness to light
and light to darkness,
who replace bitter with sweet
and sweet with bitter.
Now, I admit ignorance. I don’t know enough to know exactly what this references directly in the Bible, and it may be something far different than I know, but...on the face of it, I can’t think of anything else than what we as Conservatives have been going through for decades now at the hands of the Left, and what we have seen even stronger in the past 13 years.
You are welcome, though I didn’t mean to bring that darkness on your day. But I know, I feel it in my heart, that I am not alone in this.
Orwell’s 1984 may be one of the most politically meaningful books written in the modern age.
The Left uses it as a manual, we use it as an object warning, even to the point of the Left deliberately reversing that observation in the most Orwellian fashion.
But were ALL the negative vote totals the result of “fixing”? (I’m still recalling Eric Coomer’s words that HE “made sure of that.”)
The patient sees him(her) and displays certain symptoms.
The doc makes a diagnosis and suggests a cure.
Patient not quite sure, goes for a second opinion.
The next doc sees the problem differently and suggests a different cure.
Which one to choose? Go for yet a THIRD opinion?
I can only say that a secular ‘fix’ may not work too well on a ‘spiritual’ problem.
How about this one? I don’t know whether or not it is true, but it is certainly the type of thing I’m concerned about...

Well, looks like that thread is a FALSE report. But that is the type of thing I’m concerned about.
