Trump's fans condemn violence, but they aren't about to blame him

Eddie Emerson worked his fly fishing pole back and forth, tossing his line into a pond in West Texas, searching for stocked trout and an answer to questions on how he felt about the storming of the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters.

A backer of President Donald Trump, Emerson said he disliked the violence he saw on TV on Wednesday: people overturning barricades, clashing with police and swarming the building in Washington that houses the Senate and House of Representatives. Emerson expressed frustration with what he called the hypocrisy of those who condemned the riots but turned a blind eye to violence at Black Lives Matter protests last summer.

“What about Portland?” he asked, pointing to the months of protest and mayhem in Oregon’s largest city. “When it’s the left behind the violence, then it’s just them expressing their voice, their creativity.”

In two dozen interviews with Trump backers, they condemned Wednesday’s violence, but at the same time did not hold the president responsible.

They blamed the violence on left wing protesters - without any evidence - and expressed little hope that the deeply divided country would unify anytime soon.

For supporters like Paul Sanchez, a 50-year-old plumber who had a Trump flag flying above the American flag in front of his house in Lamesa, it was hard to fathom that ordinary Trump voters would engage in violence.

“Antifa and Black Lives Matter and that whole bunch tore up shit in cities across the country for months, and the Democrats didn’t really condemn it, not really,” Sanchez said. “I’m really pissed - but I’m not going to go out and destroy somebody’s house, I’m not going to burn down any business.”

The whole damn world is condemning the man, what more do you want? What will it change? Oh, I see, you want to break his ‘fans’, make them march to the narrative.

Yeah. Right. This was a riot from people like that dude with the horns on his head and a police department that didn’t seem to have a clue as to what they were up against. The whole event should never have happened. It was a major mistake by Trump and now he pays a huge price by the majority of people in the USA.

That display by a tiny fraction of demonstrators scarred the living crap out of the establishment on both sides. The deep state may or may not have expected it but thinks they can deal with it, they are arrogant and if the FBI is an example, pretty damned stupid at times.

Had that really been a mob with Antifa/BLM goals they would have taken the capital and destroyed it and the police couldn’t have stopped it without an utter bloodbath. Also this so-called mob wasn’t armed, had it been the police would have been outnumbered and again another bloodbath would have ensued. This incident in a way let the elites know how we feel having people attack our places of business and homes and from their reaction of pissing themselves and hyperbole they are scared.

He is correct. In some of those cities, the democrat leaders joined the marches that became violent and homes, businesses and police cars were burned. It was terrorism. People were afraid to come out of their houses, many armed themselves because the police had been cornered in many of those violent riots. And the LW lawmakers encouraged those rioters and said “They have grievances against the president and they are only expressing their free speech” none of which was true. The people and the nation is tired of these LW riots. They were nothing but a tool the LW used to get their people elected, and the cost of American citizens. And honestly, we all see this as terrorism. The Democrats terrorized the nation for 4 years, all because they lost.

Granted, the taking of the Capitol was a little over the top. But the statement has been made. Congress needs to stop dicking around and do their job. If congress doesn’t learn from this, well, our nation will collapse. Under Pelosi we have become the divided states of America. Under her, anyone who didn’t vote democrat has been branded a deplorable, a degenerate, a loser, worthless and non-contributor to the nation. That is how she and her party see us. Elite rich people like her who have never know what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck, to put baling wire on a fence cause you can’t afford to fix it, or to count pennies to buy gas to get to work. People like her do not live in reality. They were born to money and used that money to not only make themselves rich, but to lord over the poor and suck the taxes out of them to keep themselves and their rich friends rich. They are greedy, self centered arrogant elitists. So even though I do condemn taking the Capitol, I totally understand why a desperate people did it. People are tired of them. In many ways, congress has outlived its purpose, and it has become so badly corrupt.

I’m off my soapbox now

I condemn violence by the left because they want to subvert the US Constitution. They destroy the small businesses of hard working Americans that employ other hard working Americans. Nearly every Democrat, including Biden and his Ho, supported bLM and Antifa. Meanwhile, in state capitols around the country, leftist governors unilaterally forced closures of American small businesses, shuttered places of worship, limited the gathering of citizens and abused multiple other constitutional rights.

I do not condemn violence by the right. Yes, I have the guts to say so. I live in Pennsylvania and my most basic right of enfranchisement has been stolen. I have no representation because my vote does not count. Add to a laundry list of other constitutionally guaranteed rights being eliminated, I think there is a sane and rational response before things get worse.

Our founding fathers revolted over much less than what is going on today. I fully understand that our founders took years to reach the conclusion that revolt was the only course of action. They petitioned King George and Parliament. They continued to do so up to and after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Concurrently to petitioning their grievances, there were acts of civil disobedience. Additionally there was outright insurrection prior to signing of the Declaration. Our founders wanted a peaceful resolution, but were lead to the choice between capitulation and revolt.

Today we can draw many parallels to the circumstances our founders faced. We can also draw many parallels to more recent history and what has occurred in the quest for socialism and communism to be imposed upon peoples around the world. We are living in a banana republic. Our elections are meaningless. We know from history where that leads. Right now, today, presently, we do not have our full constitutional rights.

We are on the side of the righteous. We want freedom and liberty. Our enemies, and yes they are enemies, want complete control and domination of every facet of our lives. They have already gone so far to put healthy people under house arrest and shuttered their businesses. Petitioning our grievances will only fall on deaf ears because these people do not represent us. However, we should not stop petitioning. The election was a sham. When you lose the most basic right of enfranchisement the representative republic in which we once lived no longer exists.

There are only two choices: capitulate to the left or revolt. We can certainly try to speak our minds and try to have our grievances heard while conducting acts of civil disobedience. Those acts can be escalated to be uncivil, still while petitioning our grievances. If that does not work then it is time for full-scale revolt.

Breaking a window or two in the Capitol building does not rise to some kind of high-crime. Shooting an unarmed woman in the Capitol building does. Stealing an election does. Repeated attempts to remove the legitimately elected 45th President is a high crime when the methods used are based on abject lies and illegal use of government agencies.

Violence is required. It should be escalated as we petition our grievances and until we have our full rights restored.
