I don’t see how this man should be blamed. He was expecting a repeat of the Tea Party demonstrations. People who don’t trespass or destroy stuff, chant slogans at best and pick up after themselves at the end of their demonstration.

He might have been expecting polite folks, but intel said that there was a high probability that not-polite folks would show up to harass the polite folks. As has repeatedly happened over the past year. He was warned when the feds offered assistance, which he refused. This put not just the Capitol and congressional members at risk, but also the hundreds of thousands of polite attendees.

As a result of his lack of situational awareness, this happened - which in any book is unacceptable:

More importantly, all of this disrupted the process going on in the House and Senate, that Trump spent considerable speech time covering, and turned an offensive Congressional debate into an unforced demand for 'camaraderie' within congressional ranks and turned forceful debaters into quivering, guilt-ridden apologists 'in it together'.
