The founders and framers did NOT "make shit up" and got us a country.
Quit the contrary. They utilized natural law (which has it's main roots going back to the Roman Republic) to separate us from the English King and English Common Law. Without using the principles found in natural law, the Declaration of Independence would not have been legitimate or recognized by anyone and our eventual new country would have had no legal standing with the rest of the world and all the ramifications that entails (ambassadors, trade, military help, etc)
Much of that may not make sense in 2021 America (thanks in large part to our decrepit "educational" system), but in the 1700's...that's how things worked and they certainly did NOT "make shit up."
