Man-sized target at range is one thing, deer hunt is another thing.
I know people who hunt with SVD, but don’t like to hang around with a paddle like this.
My favorite game is hare, I hunt them with 5.45x39 16 inch Saiga. Previously with open sight at hares sitting at 70-100 meters. If they run I allowed them to go. Later installed 1-7x25 scope and now snipe them including on the run to up to 170 meters.

My son has a fancy CCCP scope on it...cheap but it works I hate to say it
It doesn’t auto glass in low light like Austrian or German optics but for the 10% of the price of Zeiss it does. Helluva lot
I’m old a school wooden stock ...bolts......BAR maybe ....but it’s hard to keep glass settled on a BAR any caliber over 7.62
We have a BAR 300WM......can’t keep scope aligned
The 1970 BAR 30-06 I use on occasion is a little better

But with that Bergera barrel it’s a damn solid rifle
