‘I just want to find 11,780 votes’: In extraordinary hour-long call, Trump pressures Georgia secretary of state to recalculate the vote in his favor

President Trump urged fellow Republican Brad Raffensperger, the Georgia secretary of state, to “find” enough votes to overturn his defeat in an extraordinary one-hour phone call Saturday that election experts said raised legal questions. The Washington Post obtained a recording of the conversation in which Trump alternately berated Raffensperger, tried to flatter him, begged him to act and threatened him with vague criminal consequences if the secretary of state refused to pursue his false claims, at one point warning that Raffensperger was taking “a big risk.” Throughout the call, Raffensperger and his office’s general counsel rejected Trump’s assertions, explaining that the president is relying on debunked conspiracy theories and that President-elect Joe Biden’s 11,779-vote victory in Georgia was fair and accurate.

Trump dismissed their arguments. “The people of Georgia are angry, the people in the country are angry,” he said. “And there’s nothing wrong with saying, you know, um, that you’ve recalculated.” Raffensperger responded: “Well, Mr. President, the challenge that you have is, the data you have is wrong.”

At another point, Trump said: “So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.” The rambling and at times incoherent conversation offered a remarkable glimpse of how consumed and desperate the president remains about his loss, unwilling or unable to let the matter go and still believing he can reverse the results in enough battleground states to remain in office. “There’s no way I lost Georgia,” Trump said, a phrase he repeated again and again on the call. “There’s no way. We won by hundreds of thousands of votes.”

I think Raffensberger will end up behind bars when all is said and done

> Brad Raffensperger failed to address each issue and concern in plain English, like there was no answer to the question about ballots under the table...

Regarding the ballots under the table, the GA SoS has certainly given their answer on this matter (a few weeks ago, in fact.) If Trump’s lawyers dispute the answer given then they can easily refute it since they have the entire video which they have had an entire month to watch. Based on my viewing of the security video that is available, I think the GA SoS story on the origin of the ballots under the table is factual. See my post below:

“Go screw yourself with a cactus”

That’s an old Guarani (South American Indian) expression: “ejapiro túnare”

Cultural appropriation? :)

You are not.

Then, they are dufuses.

Anyone that has been paying even a little amount of attention knows that is meadow muffins.

Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large numbers. Even “vets and retired military personnel.”

> did you see them scanning the same ballots multiple times?

Yes, I did. I admit that looks suspicious, but I’m not ready to convict. But for the sake of argument let’s say each of the two ladies scanned their stack four times (if they had done more Trump’s team would have certainly pointed it out) and all those votes went to Biden. Given the time it took to scan (and the max rate of the Dominion machines — 3000 ballots/hr I believe) this would have been at most a few hundred notes. Definitely not enough to swing the note. In any case, I’d like to see the entire video so I can see whether that behavior was really out of the ordinary or not.

> and why did they get rid of observers?

GA SoS stated that workers thought they were closing up for the night, but the onsite supervisor got a call from a higher up telling them that they needed to continue counting. I’m nearly 100% certain that nobody in State Farm Arena was told they need to leave because of a water leak or whatever. This false narrative is likely due to an erroneous (or confusing) news story from CBS on election night (before 8PM — 2.5 hours before people started leaving State Farm.)

they were not told to leave because of the water leak but because they were done counting for the night most workers left the news media left and 4-6 workers stayed. they should not have counted without observers. that is the problem anyone in charge should have stopped the counting and called back observers and media if they wanted to continue counting..those votes whether legit or not are illegal-they were counted unobserved. what innocent reason for that? stupidity?
maybe those ballot cases were loaded with bad ballots..coincidentally the spike in biden votes..?logic says bad intentions.

Yes, the GA SoS did say that it was business as usual, that some poll workers left for the night on their own, that observers were not turned away, that there was supervision, that the boxes were normal ballot boxes, etc. Nothing unusual to see there.

Unanswered questions are did the poll workers leave on their own, or were they told to leave? Why were the boxes stored under the table? Is that normal procedure? Why did they want to hustle with those particular ballots?

Actions are suspicious and unexplained in a satisfactory manner. There is no way to review those particular ballots. There are probably many unanswered questions about that situation.
