Question: How can an owner of a Subway Restaurant franchise (for example) that is open 12+ hours/day, 7 days/week afford to pay $15/hour to their employees on top of the rent, utilities, and franchise fees?
I’ve read that Subway Franchisees already cannot make a profit selling their Footlong Sandwiches for $5 or even the newer pricing of $5.99.
I’m sure these increases will kill off many of the remaining Small Businesses who have so far survived the Kung Flu Government shutdowns.
The Subway parent company will lease them robots to do the key jobs—and then the economics will work.
Low wage workers are not only competing with the robots that exist today, they are competing with the robots that will exist in the near future.
