What would be the effect of repealing section 230 on this site, FreeRepublic.com?
In my opinion, it could mean the end of the site as we know it. Section 230 is what allows people like Jim Robinson to operate web sites like this without being personally liable for other people's content. Take away section 230, and Free Republic will be open to "community standards" lawsuits from liberal nannies across the country.
I understand people here want to support the president, but this is just plain wrong. Section 230 is the cornerstone of open and free political discourse on the internet in the United States. It's what allows sites like Free Republic, Parler, Bitchute, etc. to exist as conservative alternatives to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and the like.
Free Republic is one of the most important political websites in the country. In my opinion, repealing section 230 threatens it's very existence.
