“Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace said on this week’s broadcast of his program that the “fuss” over Jill Biden’s title of “doctor” had not been applied to “Dr. Henry Kissinger, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.”
Wallace said, “There has been some criticism recently from conservatives, including some conservatives on Fox News about the fact that First Lady-to-be Jill Biden goes by the title doctor. I wonder what is the Biden’s reaction to that, especially given the fact that so many people over the years — I think of Dr. Henry Kissinger, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King have gone by the title doctor, even though they’re not medical doctors and nobody seems to have made a fuss about that.”

Traditionally in the U.S. only actual medical doctors go by the title of doctor in everyday conversation. In a university setting a professor with a PhD will usually be referred to as doctor but less so in casual usage. Outside that most people with professional doctorates like Jill Biden aren't going to refer to themselves as doctor. While technically they might be entitled to it's pretty silly and smacks of pretension. It's like a military officer demanding to be referred to by his rank around acquaintances. Yeah, you might be Captain so and so but if you want people outside the military to address you as such then you're an ass.
So while Jill Biden might technically be able to refer to herself as doctor, in actual common usage in the U.S. someone with her credentials doing so is being pompous and pretentious.
Either is dr pepper or dr dre, how come chrissy didnt mention them
.
The Bottom line:
Jill Biden can’t spell, doesn’t understand basic percentages and fractions.
She’s doesn’t know what 1/4 means.
So, some educational scam was going on here.

Wallace on I am off.
” and *another* thing, Vonnegut! I’m gonna stop payment on the check!”
A favorite movie!
Vonnegut in that film got me started reading him, a most interesting individual.
If you are not familiar with “HARRISON BERGERON”, a short story by Vonnegut... you will enjoy it! Guaranteed!

Pompous? Or inspired homage in the face of Nazism? I'll take inspired homage. From Wikipedia:
In 1934, the church sent [MLKjr's father] King Sr. on a multinational trip to Rome, Tunisia, Egypt, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, then Berlin for the meeting of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA). The trip ended with visits to sites in Berlin associated with the Protestant reformation leader, Martin Luther. While there, Michael King Sr. witnessed the rise of Nazism. As the above passage reveals, MLK Jr's father began calling him Martin Luther King from the age of 5. Changing his birth certificate later on seems a formality to align with the identity taught to him by his father, also an accomplished preacher. In reaction, the BWA conference issued a resolution which stated, "This Congress deplores and condemns as a violation of the law of God the Heavenly Father, all racial animosity, and every form of oppression or unfair discrimination toward the Jews, toward coloured people, or toward subject races in any part of the world." He returned home in August 1934, and in that same year began referring to himself as Martin Luther King Sr., and his son as Martin Luther King Jr, [whose] birth certificate was altered to read "Martin Luther King Jr" on July 23, 1957, when he was 28 years old.
Because you CAN do a thing doesnt' mean you SHOULD do it. Especially if it makes you look pretentious, and the captive media has to rush to defend you.
Chris Wallace doesn't attend churches. He was named after Christopher Columbus, not Jesus.
“His I have a dream speech in 1963 is unparalleled in the modern history of the United States”
Not true. See Pastor Archibald Carey’s 1952 speech to the Republican convention. King made the same speech three years later.
That's "Lieutenant Colonel" to you, GaryCrow.
“Wallace on I am off.”
Does that mean you watch Fox except when Wallace is on? If so, he’s grateful because you’re still helping pay his salary by giving ratings to Fox.
If you dont like Wallace, turn off the network that pays him. Its the only logical and principled response.
He sided with the non-violent side I think based on his theological stance and hoping America would do the right thing.
Unfortunately the violent side of CR seems to have won out.
Just when you thought Wallace’s nose couldn’t get any more brown...
My dad had a JD; I don’t recall anyone referring to him as “Doctor.”
On the other hand, I have a dear friend who is a DPM. I refer to him as Dr. Jackass.
It fits.
He must be on someones list. It’s time
