Will Tom Cotton man up or not?

There’s going to be a great shortage of viable Yeb!, LameMcCain and Mormon Mitt candidates in 2024.

So all we need is one Senator now, right? For it to go to the House for a vote by state?

If my understanding of the process is correct, I think that's how it's done ...

No.

If 1 Rep + 1 Senator object in writing to an elector or a slate of electors, each house convenes and then votes to accept or reject the objection. Both would have to agree in order to discard the elector(s) in question.

It’s a big caucus, surrender is the one thing Republicans do well.

I have a feeling my post didn’t come out quite the way I intended. Happens to me all the time. :-)

The poster I responded to had already named a Rep whom he/she thought would likely object, so his/her post dealt with “the other half of the equation” — i.e., getting a Senator to also object. So that would make the required 1 Rep and 1 Senator ... wouldn’t it?

Hell of a day today, no matter how one slices it.

Yup, tough day. Hasn’t Senator Paul said he will object with Mo?

Not sure — haven’t seen an update on it yet — but I hope he does! :-)

You’re correct... that only one Rep and one Sen required.

Incorrect if you think there will be only one of each.

Ted Cruz volunteered to argue the Texas case at SCOTUS, making it pretty clear he’ll also be willing to lead the challenge of fraudulently elected electors in the joint session.

There’s already been over a hundred R congress critters signing on to the effort ? Senators seem to be playing it closer to the vest, for now...

So, there’s from now until Jan 6th to develop the case re the fraud, sedition and treason...

Key date is the 18th of December, when the DNI is due to release his report on foreign interference in the 2020 election... as required by EO 13848.

From there... should get interesting... as Georgia and Michigan begin to unravel the felonies that controlled their elections this cycle, including governors, secretaries of state, and attorneys general... among others.

Democrats have been quoting the 14th Amendment... thinking it might limit Trump... but the real issue with the 14th might be the disqualification of Democrats from being seated in the next Congress... if they’ve been involved in sedition, treason, or other election irregularities enabling foreign influence...

There are enough Vichy Republicans and RINOs in the Senate to defeat any objection and of course Pelosi will block all objections from passing in the House. It takes both Houses to uphold an objection to a state’s electoral vote count.
Republican Senators are already congratulating “President-Elect Biden:” John Thune, Roy Blunt, Shelly Moore-Capito and of course the usual suspects: Romney, Collins, Murkowski, Sasse, etc.

Bless the few Republicans who stand up for the Republic.

They are invited to join the new America First Party.

RIP GOP.

He doesn’t need his house colleagues to challenge. He only needs one Senator to sign on, and a majority vote in the House and Senate. That’s where he’s going to have problems.
