Your post is absurd. You appear to be making the argument that because some desecrate the flag, therefore it’s OK for anyone to do so.

I've done nothing of the sort. I simply pointed out that code you cited was rendered moot by a numerous court decisions.

Do you believe that it is acceptable to defecate on a flag?

I am personally opposed to the desecration of the US flag.

If not, where do you draw the line?

Burning and urinating on a flag certainly meets a common sense definition of desecration. Holding, hugging, and draping oneself in a flag certainly does not. However, both these definitions now differ from the federal code you cited based on established judicial precedent.

The Flag Code is clear;

The code you cited has been rendered moot and is now unenforceable. It is obsolete.

...whether you or some high school girl choose to abide by it is irrelevant.

The code you cited is now irrelevant. Also irrelevant, in my opinion, is the future value to our nation of anyone like you who would side with flag-hating leftists against a flag-loving teenage girl.

It may have been “effectively invalidated” (just as many parts of the Constitution have been), but it has not been repealed.

The sections you referenced have been struck down. There is no need to repeal it since repealing it would have no legal effect.

If you were capable of understanding simple English, you would grasp that I have not at any time attacked the girl’s patriotism, though I disagree with her way of showing it.

You falsely claimed that this patriotic young lady was breaking a law. No where on this thread have you indicated any support for her or her patriotism. From what you have written here, you are no different than the leftists who are trying to oppress her patriotism. If you do love the flag and this country, you should be ashamed of what you are doing here.

Nor have I stated that her actions are illegal, since she did not mutilate or deface the flag.

Certainly you did. You quoted a section of an outdated code that falsely portrayed her as breaking federal law.

Thus, as I said earlier, you (and she) may do as you please, and so will I.

You attempted to bring the law into a discussion in order to criticize a young girl's patriotism. This is clearly what you "please to do".

There are many ways to respect the flag that do involve adhering to the Flag Code, and those are the ways that I choose.

Then the code you cited is clearly as obsolete as you are. In world full of real flag desecration, you choose to criticize this this patriotic young woman for draping herself in the flag she loves. Although it is becoming apparent that you may not have the decency or self-awareness to know who you are siding with and who you are siding against, you really ought be ashamed of yourself and what you are doing here.

What, you again? You seem unable to comprehend what I have written so far, so I’m not sure why I continue to waste time on this.

Whether or not the Flag Code is obsolete or not, it exists, and it says what it says. Judicial precedent has not changed a word of it.

I am not “siding with flag-hating leftists”. You continue to put words in my mouth, a dishonest tactic more suited to leftists. In fact, if you could read, you would see that the post to which you first responded was nothing more or less than a quotation of the appropriate section of the Flag Code. All of the accusations you make against me, you have invented by yourself.

I choose to adhere to the Flag Code. You do not. That’s all there is to say.
