Newly sworn-in NH House Speaker Dick Hinch dies of COVID-19 Autopsy determines cause of death to be COVID-19
CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire’s House Speaker Dick Hinch died Wednesday, just a week after he was sworn in as leader of the state’s newly Republican-led Legislature. He was 71.
An autopsy determined that the cause of Hinch's death was COVID-19.
Hinch, of Merrimack, was starting his seventh two-year term in the state House. He previously served as majority leader for the 2016-17 session and as minority leader when Democrats were in control the last two years. His death was announced by his office, which did not give any details of what it called “this unexpected tragedy.”
Gov. Chris Sununu ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff and said he was profoundly sad to learn of Hinch's death.

Republicans won majorities in both chambers in November. Senate President Chuck Morse, R-Salem, said he had been looking forward to serving with a colleague he considered a best friend.

The swearing in of the the 400-member House and 24-member Senate was held outdoors at the University of New Hampshire because of the coronavirus pandemic. More than a quarter of House members, most of them Democrats, skipped the ceremony after learning the day before that several Republican lawmakers had tested positive for the virus after attending an indoor GOP caucus meeting Nov. 20 where many attendees weren't wearing masks.

Hinch was attending a virtual meeting with legislators on Tuesday, but had reportedly been feeling ill after spending most of the cold day Dec. 2 outdoors for Organization Day. He normally would have chaired the meeting had he not been feeling sick.
Rep. Sherm Packard, R-Londonderry, told people at the meeting Tuesday, which was covered by InDepthNH.org, that Hinch had cold-like symptoms that were not COVID-19-related. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Organization Day was held outdoors at the University of New Hampshire in the cold due to concerns about COVID-19. The meeting lasted more than three hours in temperatures hovering around 40 degrees.

That low population state has a 400 member House? Is that a typo.

From what has been reported in the local news around here for the past few days, they have loosened up the “rules” (were there any?) as to which deaths can list Covid-19 as a cause. Now it seems that anyone who might have had any symptoms can be presumptively classified as a Covid-19 death, even if not tested. Maybe he was not tested, but met the new criteria (of assuming most deaths are from Covid-19)?

Funny how the Dems very rarely get COVID-19, and when they do, it’s usually some has been celebrity who just so happened to have finished a new book or a straight to Streaming movie.
400 NH House members. All paid just $100 a year to go to Concord part-time. The NH Senate has 24 seats.
actually it’s just the high profile libs that don’t get it. But if you visit the liberal sites, the average libs or their friends and relatives seems to be not only getting it, but DYING of it.

I’m guessing, sufficiently numerous so that most of the state’s roughly 1.4 million people can routinely have personal contact with them, unlike the U.S. House, which is a 538-member chummy good ‘ol boys and girls club remote from most of the country’s 330 million-plus people.

we can't prevent getting covid, but if you have age, a lot of weight, disease, its like sticky tape....you're going to get it if you're around it...
and even though your blood sugar has been around 300 consistently for the last month, and you have AFib and are overweight, your death will be blamed on covid..
Not likely. Hospital I work at swabs almost EVERY patient with even the slightest hint of symptoms, or even with no symptoms at all. I had a patient just today who we tested for covid; patient had no symptoms whatsoever and is here for something totally unrelated.
Now, whether or not covid really was the actual cause of death is a different question. The story has absolutely no information whatsoever about his symptoms, pathology, or the course of his admission.

No one should die from Covid unless they are in poor health.
There are drugs on the market that are very effective in treating Covid patients such as Ivermectin. Effective rate of 99% was recently reported at hearing in Miami last week..
Why would they retire? The pay and perks aren’t bad, and they don’t have to actually work for it.
