The unnecessary and slightly embarrassing detail is to make the story seem more plausible. Or at least that’s my guess. You can never take anything a Democrat says at face value.
As Judge Judy says, if the story doesn’t make sense, it’s probably a lie.
Any parent knows this, especially when the story keeps having new, added “details”.
