RICHMOND, Texas – An illegal gun sale leads to a shootout that left two people injured and two detained in Fort Bend County, according to deputies.
The incident was reported around 8:30 p.m. at an apartment complex located in the 2400 block of Old South in Richmond.
Fort Bend County deputy Chad Norvell said deputies received several 911 calls of gunshots in the area. When deputies arrived, Norvell said one man was found with four to five gunshot wounds and was flown to the Medical Center in critical condition.
Norvell said another person was shot once and taken to a nearby hospital by a personal vehicle.
Deputies said the shooting happened after two men met up with a group to purchase handguns. Norvell said when the money was passed, the exchange turned into a robbery as the seller had no intentions to sell the guns, which led to a “gun battle.” Norvell said a resident came out of his apartment armed and held two of the suspects at gunpoint until deputies arrived at the scene. He said the two suspects were detained for questioning.
During the investigation, Norvell said stolen weapons were recovered. He said bullet casing went through went into local apartments and surrounding vehicles. Norvell said no other injuries were reported.
It is unknown how many shooters were involved or the relationship between the group.
The is a developing story.
An armed Samaritan then came out and held two of the participants for the police.
Quick, pass a law banning the illegal sale of guns! That will fix the problem!
Can I assume some or all parties involved were felons, which led to the guns being illegal?
Are private sales banned in Texas?
If not, what was illegal? The robbery attempt, check, the shooting by the perps, but certainly not the buyers defending themselves.
That is some serious port ejection if the brass went through apartments.
My post was dripping with sarcasm, sorry you didn’t catch it.
What I was thinking.
COMPLETE propaganda. How does the corrupt news media know it was an “illegal” gun sale? Was either party a felon? How do they know? In Texas it is perfectly legal for a private Texas citizen to sell another gun to another Texas citizen who is lawful to possess (not a felon).
Nope, legal, just like in our Sweet Home.
ROFL!
WHAT?
Amish?
So when a stolen car is involved in an accident that kills a person, is it the fault of the stolen car? The headline on the story about the illegal guns would lead one to believe that the gunfight was the fault of illegal guns. This is rubbish reporting at the least.
Assault weaponized casings are the worst kind of casings.
Might have been a CZ 70 that thing throws brass a mile.
hahahahahahahaahah I can't stop snickering...deadly...
Actually, I did. I’m sorry, I wasn’t addressing your comment, but rather the article.
Stolen weapons would make them illegal.
Private sales are legal in Texas except in cases like this one in which, as the article makes quite clear, the firearms were stolen...
The reporterette / DNC stenographer typing up this story probably thinks that all firearms are illegal.
