While that is probably the most blatant example, there seems to be in my Catholic friends an underlying “what did I do to deserve God’s rath”.
I think that’s common among people of all religions...wondering what they did to cause God to (seem to) abandon them...I’m Catholic and I’m tough on the Church...but this thinking isn’t confined to Catholics...every woman I know who isn’t a stone cold atheist who has had a miscarriage, wonders is it was her fault.
