Well, it is one of them. In the first part of the movie, she was working at Aricebo (where she met 'Palmer Joss', played by Matthew McConaughey). The place where she made her 'discovery' was the Very Large Array in New Mexico.
It's a damned shame and a loss to science.
Yep. I re-watched it, coincidentally, just last month.
Side note - I went up to Mauna Kea Observatory, and it was cool to be above the clouds. On a real clear night in Hawaii you can see the Milky Way and so many stars you didn’t know are there. Cool stuff.
