I read that part as a way to link a fingerprint to the voters ORIGINAL vote and display how they voted, but that it would be different than the way that vote was added to the final tabulation. It stored and displayed the original vote but counted it the modified way. Clever.

Hugo Chavez supposedly specified that the program should basicly cover its own tracks, hide that vote stealing had happened.

But there is still the problem/possiblity of a data snapshot being taken of everyone who didn’t vote for Chavez. Not a hacker, nor do I play one on TV. But the software identified who voted against him long enough to change the vote. Wonder if that data was collected live somewhere and then stored. :/
