Since you are there you should ask for that in the runoff. It's pretty simple, you will select your choices and click print. Then ask them to decode the QR code. If they can't do that on the spot then ask to observe later. They won't have your ballot at that point so they would have to pick a random ballot from the pile and show you that the QR code matches the ovals.
I'll definitely be more "ballot aware" in the runoff. I think I can watch the ballot be "cast" into the scanner. I don't know if that process shows you who you voted for though, only the fact that the ballot was successfully scanned. Anyway, I might just go volunteer and see if I can get more involved in the process.
I suggest you all read this paper that does a very good job of discussing the BMDs and how the vote works. It even identifies features of different BMD vendors. As I understand, GA has all machines built by Dominion??
