Say Trump's legal challenges result in both Biden and Trump each ending up with less than 270 electoral votes. And further say Democratic governors and Republican legislatures of swing-states put forward competing slates of electors. So it ends up in the House of Representatives in January 2021, with Republicans holding a razor-thin edge in delegations. Is it possible that, "for the sake of the country," and "for the sake of unity, kumbaya, and all that stuff," the House gets together and decides it makes sense to select President Trump for reelection and Kamala as Vice President. Or, for the same kumbaya reasons, to select Joe Biden as President and Mike Pence as Vice President?
Or, is it also possible that Mike Pence might approach the House delegations and negotiate a deal with them, saying, in effect: For "the sake of country unity," I offer to not seek your vote for Vice President if you agree to select President Trump for a second term. Then, Trump gets a second term and Pence can say in 2024 that he sacrificed his position for country unity -- might give him a big advantage in running for President in 2024. Again, just spit-balling here. Any thoughts on these possibilities to avoid secession or civil war? Are any of them likely?
Here’s yet another possibility to add my list in post #97 above: Could the U.S. House select Trump for a second term and select Joe Biden as his Vice President, again, for “the sake of the country?”
President Trump’s life wouldn’t be worth a plug nickel in those circumstances.
I suggest you stay with working out how many angels can dance on the head of a pin and not design any other pyrrhic compromises.
