2008: 69.5M Democratic popular vote–the first black candidate–massive enthusiasm in the black community

2012: 65.9M–the thrill is gone, turnout goes down

2016: 65.8M–black turnout stays low with no black candidate

2020: 79.8M–This incredibly high turnout was because the Democrats offered a young, articulate, visionary candidate who had huge campaign rallies around the country motivating Democrats to vote
